Suggested Day by Day Itinerary
2008 China Basketball Tour
Day 01-Arrive Beijing
Upon arrival in Beijing, and after clearing customs and claiming our luggage, we are met by our Tour Manager and taken to our awaiting bus for the ride to the hotel in downtown Beijing. The remainder of the day is leisure time. This evening, we have an orientation tour of the city followed by a welcome dinner at our hotel.
Day 02-Beijing
This morning, after breakfast we will have a morning practice and stretch around the hotel. Then we will tour Tiananmen Square, which is one the largest of its kind in the world. In the afternoon, we will drive to Houhai Lake where we will take Rickshaws to experience the old Beijing lifestyle. The Rickshaws will then take us to see the Hutongs and visit the Bell and Drum Towers. Afterwards, we will go boating on Houhai Lake. This evening we will have dinner along the lake.
Day 03-Beijing
This morning, sightseeing with a local guide starts with a visit to the Forbidden City. The former home of 24 Ming and Qing Emperors, The Forbidden City is the World’s largest collection of wooden structures and the most well preserved glimpse of Chinese dynastic life. After the visiting, we return to our hotel for lunch and get ready for the first basketball game with a local team in the afternoon.
Day 04-Beijing
Following breakfast, we depart for the start of hiking tour of the Great Wall. We will hike the most well-preserved part of the Great wall, named Mutianyu Great wall. Construction of Mutianyu Great Wall was started in the Northern Qi Dynasty (550 - 577) and was restored in the early Ming Dynasty (1368 - 1644). We will spend most of the day on the wall and will have a picnic lunch on the Wall. We drive back in the late afternoon and rest of the day is free.
Day 05-Beijing to Xian (Overnight train)
In the morning, we will have the 2nd basketball game. After the game we drive back to the hotel and pack. We check out in the afternoon and spend the rest of the day shopping at the famous Hongqiao pearl market and silk market. Here you can buy many traditional Chinese made silks, souvenirs and pearls for you family and friends. Tonight, we take an overnight train to Xian.
Day 06-Xian
This morning we start our journey of the China’s former capital city. After arriving in Xian, at around 8:00AM, be sure take all your luggage with you. Our local guide will be waiting for us at the train station and drive us directly to the hotel for breakfast. After breakfast, we will visit the Xian National Museum and the big goose pagoda. The museum occupies an area of 65,000 square meters (16 acres). It is a grand complex of buildings imitating the architecture style of the Tang Dynasty (618-907). After the visit, we drive to a famous local restaurant for a traditional dumpling lunch. The rest of the day is spent on our own. This evening we will go take a walk at the famous Muslim street and visit the big Mosque. We have a free evening after dinner.
Day 07-Xian
Following breakfast we depart this morning for the world famous Terra Cotta Warriors. This historical site contains more than 6000 terracotta warriors, which, with their individual features and facial expressions, line up in battle-readiness, creating an awe-inspiring effect. After lunch at the Terracotta warriors museum’s restaurant, we drive back to our hotel for some rest and prepare for the 3rd basketball
game this evening.
Day 08-Xian to Nanjing (Airplane)
After morning check out, we visit the Steles Forest and have a biking tour on the city wall of Xian. Then, we drive to the airport, have lunch along the way at and in the afternoon fly to Nanjing.

Day 09-Nanjing
We have morning basketball practice and in the afternoon play the 4th basketball game with a local team. The evening is free to explore Nanjing on your own.

Day 10-Nanjing
Morning visit to Sun Yat-Sen’s Mausoleum. Dr. Sun Yat-sen (1866-1925) was a great forerunner of the Chinese democratic revolution. Led by Dr. Sun the Chinese people brought down the corrupt rule of the Qing Dynasty (1644-1911) and ended 2000 years of the feudal monarchy system, leading the Chinese people in to a new age. In the afternoon we will play the 5th basketball game with a local team. And after the game, we will have dinner and party with the local team.
Day 11-Nanjing
This morning we will visit the other sightseeing attractions of Nanjing. The Ming Xiaoling is the tomb of the founder of the Ming Dynasty, Zhu Yuanzhang. He rose from poverty to lead a great army which pushed the Mongols out of China in the 14th century. After victory, he established his capital at Nanjing. This afternoon, we will play the 6th basketball game. Tonight we have a free evening to get dinner and explore the city.
Day 12-Nanjing
Morning visit to the Confucius Temple. Nanjing’s Confucius Temple is for consecrating and worshipping Confucius, the great thinker and educator of ancient China. Nanjing Confucius temple was built in Song Dynasty (A.D.1034) and expanded in East Jin Dynasty. This architecture was ruined and rebuilt several times throughout the ages. The Confucius Temple was rebuilt in Qing Dynasty (A.D.1869) but was severely damaged by Japanese troops in 1937. In the afternoon, we will play the 7th basketball game. We have a free evening to get dinner and explore the city.
Day 13-Nanjing to Shanghai
In the morning we check out of the hotel and take the train 2 hours to the most notorious of Chinese cities-Shanghai. Once known as Paris of the East, Shanghai now calls itself the Pearl of the Orient. After we arrive in Shanghai, our local tour guide will pick us up and drive us to the hotel for check in. In the afternoon, we tour the Yu Garden and Chenghuangmian Market. Be sure to grab dinner early because in the evening, we will watch the Acrobat show in the Shanghai Theater.
Day 14-Shanghai
In the morning we play the 8th and final basketball game. After the game we have lunch and party with the local team. The afternoon is free for shopping and packing. In the evening, we will take a boat to see the beautiful Shanghai night view.
Day 15-Shanghai to home
Morning transfer to Shanghai airport, depart Shanghai for home. Finish the amazing tour of China.
